ORE Seminar: FEMA鈥檚 Hazus Tools for Estimating Tsunami and Coastal Flood
January 29, 3:30pm - 4:30pmMānoa Campus, 鈥淶oom Meeting, Please see description for Meeting ID and Passcode鈥
The seminar will highlight 3 tools developed by FEMA https://www.fema.gov/flood-maps/products-tools/hazus that enable the estimation of impacts to buildings and economic losses based on tsunami and coastal hazard data. The tools will be demonstrated highlighting the data, methods and results for several Oahu scenarios. Hazus 6.1: Is FEMA鈥檚 Hazus platform that supports tsunami, flood, hurricane and earthquake losses in Esri鈥檚 ArcMap 10.8.2 platform: https://msc.fema.gov/portal/resources/hazus. The overview will demonstrate a tsunami model case study based on 91精品黑料吃瓜 provided hazard modelling for the Great Aleutian Tsunami (GAT). The preparation of hazard data, input requirements, methods and results will be discussed. Hazus 7.0: Is FEMA鈥檚 latest release of Hazus in Esri鈥檚 ArcPro interface and supports the ability to perform coastal and riverine flood losses. The overview will demonstrate a coastal loss study based on USGS data reflecting the potential loss of the upper 1 meter of reef for Oahu. The preparation of hazard data, input requirements, methods and results will be discussed. Hazus FAST: This is a Python based OpenSource version of the Hazus flood loss methodology designed to run quickly using site-specific building data: https://hazus-support.msc.fema.gov/prod/FAST/FAST.zip. The simple data requirements, open-source coding, no Esri dependency and customizable damage functions makes Hazus FAST a favorite of the research community. The demo will be based on multi-return period coastal flood hazard data for Oahu that ships as sample data with the software. // Doug Bausch, Director of Data Science, Niyam IT, Fairfax, Virginia, dbausch@niyamit.com // *Online only*, Zoom Meeting Link, Meeting ID: 963 5962 3640, Passcode: OREseminar, https://hawaii.zoom.us/j/96359623640
