Please join us for "Transforming Health Communications in Hawai鈥榠: Strategies for Community Impact" in celebration of National Public Health Week!
Hosted by the Department of Public Health Sciences and the School of Communications and Information, this engaging panel will explore innovative approaches to health communication, emphasizing accessibility, cultural relevance, and community-driven strategies.
Panelists include:
-Ms. Momi Tolentino, Project Director and Native Hawaiian ambassador for Next Gen Hawai鈥榠, a social media initiative sharing health information with youth and young adults, focusing on Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Filipino communities. Momi also works at Papa Ola L艒kahi as a Communications and Community Relations Specialist in Native Hawaiian Health.
-Dr. Christina Higa, Director of the Telecommunications and Social Informatics (TASI) research program of the Social Science Research Institute at 91精品黑料吃瓜 惭腻苍辞补, and she serves as the director of the Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center (PBTRC). Dr. Higa will share the Telehealth in the Libraries Project and its focus on expanding telehealth and digital literacy to improve access to care.
-Ms. Valerie Rose, State Office of Rural Health Coordinator at the Hawai鈥榠 Department of Health Family Health Service Division, she will share her expertise in engaging diverse communities in health education.
-Dr. Kasisomayajula "Vish" Viswanath, Lee Kum Kee Professor of Health Communication at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. Vish will share the intersection of communication inequalities, poverty, and health disparities.
We dedicate this event in honor of our beloved colleague and friend CJ Johnson, who was a champion of meaningful communication for public health.
Don't miss the announcement of the winners of the Public Health Photo & Video Contest, presented by the Hawai鈥榠 Public Health Workforce Catalyst Lab.
