Faculty-Sponsored Study Tours Info Meeting
February 3, 11:30am - 12:45pmMānoa Campus, Moore 155A
Build your own short-term study tour with the Study Abroad Center!
Have you been...
• thinking about leading a group of students to Ireland to research the efforts of addressing dangerous stings of the lion’s mane jellyfish?
• dreaming of starting a sustainable olive pickling industry in Hawai‘i—where else would you study the processes of growing, harvesting and producing olives, but in Spain?
• wanting to take a group of botanists to study the unique plants in the Amazon rainforest?
You’d like to get started, but are overwhelmed by the logistics and the risks involved in planning an international study tour.
You can now do it all, through the University of Hawai‘i at MÄnoa (91ƷϳԹM) Study Abroad Center (SAC)’s new initiative, Faculty-Sponsored Study Tours (FaSST). The SAC will support and facilitate faculty members’ endeavors overseas. You provide the course content, logistical arrangements (flights, accommodations, meals, ground transportation, etc.), the SAC will provide risk management, insurance coverage, and registration for students participating in faculty-sponsored study tours. In addition, the SAC can assist faculty members with budget-planning and coordinating logistics, and will provide pre-departure information concerning health/safety issues abroad.
91ƷϳԹM faculty members interested in initiating a study tour are encouraged to contact the SAC, who can provide guidance for program development, advertising and student recruitment.
