Louis Mendoza introduces and leads a discussion of the poetry and life of ra煤l salinas, who spent most of the 1960s in prison on drug-related charges. While in prison, salinas wrote poetry that became part of the Chicano literary canon. In prison and later, he was involved in the prisoner鈥檚 rights and Chicano movements. Mendoza, long-time friend and collaborator of Salinas, has played a key role in editing and presenting his work to the reading public.
