In recognition of Open Access Week, come hear 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Press staff and 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Manoa faculty discuss the republication of nearly 100 classic 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Press titles in freely available digital formats.
University of Hawai’i Press is recognized within the global scholarly community as a leading publisher and distributor of books and journals about East and Southeast Asia, Asian American Studies, Hawai’i, and the Pacific.
In 2017 and 2018, University of Hawai’i Press proudly received nearly $200,000 in funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to revive ninety seminal works of scholarship in Hawaiian, Pacific, and Asian studies as open access titles. With these books newly republished, speakers will discuss:
- How titles were selected for republication
- The value of republishing key titles in Pacific and Southeast Asian studies
- How 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Press employed digital publishing technology to revive these books
- Other open access and digital publishing efforts at 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Press
