Join us in the Waikiki Aquarium classroom on Oct. 17 from 3:30-4:30pm for a seminar by Dr. Rob Toonen and Kawika Winter.

Dr. Rob Toonen, researcher at the Hawai芒鈧渋 Institute of Marine Biology at the 91精品黑料吃瓜 School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) and Kawika Winter, reserve manager at the newly-established He脢禄eia National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR), will share a vision of resilient estuaries and coastal watersheds where human and natural communities thrive. Estuarine reserves protect a section of an estuary and provide a living laboratory to explore and understand the important areas where rivers meet the sea. Come learn how He脢禄eia NERR is an opportunity to honor the past by using the traditional ecosystem management approach embodied in ahupua芒鈧渁 principles, integrated with the contemporary scientific principles to sustainably manage the He芒鈧渆ia estuary.
