CTE Summer Teaching Institute: 芒鈧揂 Lens on Culture and Place"

This year芒鈧劉s Summer Teaching Institute for Ma脤鈥瀗oa faculty will trace how this unique place, Ma脤鈥瀗oa and Hawai芒鈧渋, shapes and inspires us personally and professionally, and how we can infuse this knowledge mindfully into our teaching. Exploring who and where we are can illuminate commonalities and disparities that coexist in our classrooms and communities.
During three half-days of workshops and activities offered by exemplar M脛聛noa faculty across diverse disciplines, we will explore a suite of themes and experiences including:
- What is privilege?
- Historical Perspectives on M脛聛noa
- Expressing Culture in Science
- Pidgin
- Mo芒鈧劉olelo: Our Stories
- What is local?
- Island Culture in the Classroom
- Identity, Diversity, Justice, Action
- Genealogy of Place
Selected participants are expected to attend all three days of the Institute and will receive a certificate and digital badge upon completion.
All applications are welcome but priority will be given to M脛聛noa faculty.
