Waikiki Parc Features Dana Brewer
February 9, 2017 - March 31, 2017Parc Promenade Gallery, Waikiki Parc Hotel, 2233 Helumoa Road, Waikiki
Dana Brewer芒鈧劉s sculptures are highlighted as part of an expanded arts partnership of the University of Hawai芒鈧渋 at M脛聛noa (91精品黑料吃瓜M), the Halekulani and its sister hotel, the Waikiki Parc.
Dana Brewer was born and raised in Washington State, for the most part, in the countryside. From a young age she developed a love of nature and for the beauty of the large oak and pine trees that surrounded her.
In 2011, Brewer relocated to Honolulu to attend the University of Hawai芒鈧渋 at M脛聛noa (91精品黑料吃瓜M) to pursue a career in the field of interpreting. She decided to try her hand at glassblowing. Although she had always feared heat芒鈧漞ven the heat of an oven full of cookies芒鈧漵he was somehow drawn to the molten glass and the kilns. As her fears subsided, Brewer discovered that heat, gravity, and breath can unite to create the most elegant, nature-inspired forms. She was hooked. In May 2016, Brewer received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on glass from the Department of Art + Art History, 91精品黑料吃瓜M. In the future, Brewer plans to continue creating and developing as an artist with a concentration in hot glass.
Brewer states, 芒鈧揊or me, the easiest way to get lost and found at the same time is in nature. Art is my way to praise nature, to continue the conversation and recognition of the vital connection between an individual and nature.芒鈧
Guitarist Christopher Hopper will provide music at the opening reception in this series of up-and-coming young artists芒鈧劉 exhibitions at the Waikiki Parc. In 2016, he received a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the Department of Music, 91精品黑料吃瓜M. He has also studied with guitar virtuosos Carlos Barbosa Lima, and the Brazilian Guitar Duo芒鈧劉s Douglas Lora and Jo脙拢o Luiz.
