Staking Claim demonstrates the ways racialization fuels settler colonialism in the islands through an interdisciplinary analysis. It argues that the racialization of Hawaiians and the indigenization of non-Hawaiians work concurrently to enable the staking of non-Hawaiian claims to Hawai芒鈧劉i.
Author of Staking Claim, Judy Rohrer, grew up in Hawai芒鈧劉i and earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Hawai芒鈧劉i at M脛聛noa. Rohrer芒鈧劉s first book, Haoles in Hawai芒鈧劉i, was published in 2010 through the University of Hawai芒鈧劉i Press.
