In fashion showcases, garments printed with a Chinese influence are often seen in high-end fashion designs. Fashion design is about utilizing inspiration to provoke thought and to create new trends. This process also incorporates media, music, life style, magazines, fashion forecasts, and street-fashion.
During the lecture, Dr. Lin will show culturally influenced images to compare similarities and differences from current modern styles reflecting Chinese cultures. There are ten Qing imperial dragon robes in 91精品黑料吃瓜M costume collection. A total of 120 current fashion design images will be presented and compared to Qing imperial dragon robes.
Shu Hwa Lin is an Associate Professor and Costume Collection Curator at the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences in the Fashion, Design & Merchandising program at the University of Hawai 脤鈥檌 at M脛聛noa. Her research examines new forms of textiles and clothing that contribute to the health, protection, comfort, utility, and appearance concerns of individuals and groups with special needs. Dr. Lin worked in apparel companies as a technical designer in charge of patterns and production management for thirteen years. Her research focus is a special interest in Chinese textiles in the Ming and Qing dynasty.
